HOME OFFICE DEMANDS UNREASONABLE TRAVEL TO LIVERPOOL

Liberal Democrats for Seekers of Sanctuary are appalled at the Home Office’s new ruling. It affects ALL asylum seekers, wherever they are living, who have been refused leave to remain and are appealing the decision with further evidence. They presently take this to a regional centre where it is possible for them to reach, or for charitable and voluntary support to assist them. However the Home Office is now insisting on them taking it to their Liverpool office.

The costs of this, as well as the difficulties in planning travel, is going to be completely out of reach for most asylum seekers, many of which will be living with no support whatsoever from the state, and are not allowed to work. The details are in this letter.

This is a huge travesty of justice, and we will do what we can to overturn or at least mitigate this decision.
