MORE REPORTING BACK FROM PARTY CONFERENCE IN GLASGOW.

We were very active ! As well as promoting the need for the Right to Work, and ending destitution Suzanne Fletcher made this plea to put the ending of indefinite detention for immigration purposes into the party election manifesto.

We made our presence felt at various fringe meetings, making the above points again, especially at the Liberty one and the “Big Green Fringe” organised by the Green Lib Dems, and shared the Ethnic Minority Liberal Democrats stall. They were kind letting us share, and we were delighted that they won the best stall competition.

As well as our successful AGM we had an excellent fringe meeting too. Fiona Hall spoke at our AGM on the important role of our organisation and the current situation in the European Parliament. Our fringe, held jointly with the Liberal Democrat Christian Forum, on ending destitution was addressed by the Jonathan Ellis of British Red Cross, and Eileen Baxendale, chair of Refugee Survival Trust. Best of all though, we had a dramatic presentation of the life of an asylum seeker who is destitute. It was gripping, and had everyone’s attention. Please do have a look at the write ups attached, and read more about these. As always LD4SOS do our best to make sure that the voices are heard of those who are powerless. We listened, and we intend to continue to campaign on the issues so important to them.

these are the 2 write up’s of the meetings.
